WotLK Raid Listing

WotLK Raid Listing

Wrath of the Lich King has been out for about a month now and the raids are great but some people do not even know what raids exist for WotLK. So here is the Wotlk Raid List. The following descriptions of each WotLK Raid Listing is sourced straight from WoWWiki.

Ahn’Kahet: The Old Kingdom

The area known as the Old Kingdom lies deep below the surface of Northrend; and is the original location of Azjol-Nerub. The nerubians preferred to stay well below surface level. This area had not been well maintained because the Scourge never descended this far. By the same token, that meant they hadn’t looted as much either. It was easier to avoid the Scourge by staying to these lower levels. Most of the nerubian rebels live down here.

Azjol-Nerub

Azjol-Nerub, also known as the Spider Kingdom (pronounced “ah-ZHOL nuh-ROOB”), is the vast underground empire of the arachnid Nerubians located on the icy continent of Northrend. The entrance to Azjol-Nerub can be found in the Pit of Narjun, in the western reaches of the Dragonblight.

Chamber of Aspects – The Obsidian Sanctum

The Obsidian Sanctum is the black dragonflight area of the Chamber of Aspects. The entrance is in Dragonblight and accessed via a crack in the ice below Wyrmrest Temple. It holds one raid boss, Sartharion the Onyx Guardian, and his three lieutenants, Shadron, Tenebron, and Vesperon. Raiders may choose to kill all three drakes or leave some combination of them alive. Completing the encounter with one or more drakes up increases both the difficulty and the quality of loot that drops.

A 10- and 25-man version of this raid exists.

Drak’Tharon Keep

Drak’Tharon Keep contains 1 instance for level 74-76 players. Like Blackrock Mountain, Drak’Tharon is a two-zone feature. It connects the Grizzly Hills and Zul’Drak.

The undead Drakkari ice trolls have begun pouring from their stronghold of Drak’Tharon Keep, and are assaulting the furbolg. The invasion is oddly credited to the Drakkari themselves, not the Scourge.

On Heroic, it awards approximately 2000 reputation.

Gundrak

Gundrak (also known as Gun’Drak) is the capital of the ice troll nation of Zul’Drak in eastern Northrend. The Drakkari tribe rule Zul’Drak from here, constantly battling the mighty forces of the Scourge.

  • Population: 13,000 (100% Drakkari ice troll)
  • Affiliation: Independent.

Gundrak is an instance which contains the final boss for the ice trolls. This instance will show the Ice Trolls in all their glory, and teach us why they have been so successful against the Scourge. The story that emerges in the completely constructed zone, Zul’Drak, and the instance at the end of that zone, Gundrak, is that the trolls worship various animal Gods, like the rest of the troll races. They have began sacrificing to these gods to give them the power to fight the Scourge. The whole zone is recognizable as Troll, but with a twist to it that is true to the ice troll culture.

Naxxaramas

Naxxramas is an entry-level raid instance floating above the Dragonblight, and is available in both 10-man and 25-man versions. It has the shape of a necropolis and has the questionable honor to serve as the seat of one of the Lich King’s most powerful officers, the dreaded lich Kel’Thuzad.

The Nexus

The Nexus is a level 71-73 wing of the Nexus dungeon hub in the Borean Tundra. The dungeon layout is very open. You can go into different “wings”, but the final boss, Keristrasza, a captured red dragon, can only be freed from her ice prison when you kill the previous three bosses.

The Oculus

The Oculus is a 5-man wing of the Nexus in Coldarra (a subregion of Borean Tundra in Northrend) designed for level 80 players. The Oculus is a tower of “magical rings” that float above the ground and the first instance to allow players the use of certain flying mounts.

Utgarde Keep

Utgarde Keep (pronounced OOT-ghaard) is the name of a dungeon in World of Warcraft (as well as the first instance of the same dungeon). The keep is located on the shores of Lake Cauldros in the Howling Fjord of Northrend.

Utgarde is inhabited by the Vrykul (led by King Ymiron), a Viking-like race bent on proving their strength to the Lich King, who will raise the most worthy of their warriors to serve him beyond the grave. Enemy encounters include Vrykul, Undead and more…

Utgarde Pinnacle

Utgarde Pinnacle is the second of Utgarde Keep’s two 5-man wings. It is a level 80 instance, and you need to be at least level 75 to enter it. The instance has its own meeting stone at the top level of the keep.

On Heroic, it awards approximately 2000 reputation.

Halls of Lightning

The Halls of Lightning is the level 79-80, five-man wing of Ulduar in Storm Peaks.

Halls of Lightning is part of the enormous titan city of Ulduar. Here the treacherous Loken – a fallen servant of the Pantheon – mass-produces Iron Vrykul on behalf of his dark master’s sinister plans. Loken himself guides his forces from his throne, guarded by storm and fire elementals.

Halls of Stone

Halls of Stone is the 5-man wing of Ulduar in Storm Peaks and is aimed at level 77-79 players. It is part of the titan city and has a lot of lore closely tied to it. This is one of the non-linear instances in Wrath of the Lich King. The scale of the instance is large, with tall halls and rooms, but is still small enough to move about in without a mount.

The Violet Hold

Violet Hold is a prison complex located in Dalaran. It is the third instance to be located within the bounds of a capital city (after the Stormwind Stockade and Orgrimmar’s Ragefire Chasm). The quest Discretion is Key, obtained from Rhonin at level 75, grants you The Violet Hold Key which is required to unlock the door to the instance. You can enter without the key so long as someone opens the door for you. The quest itself does not need to be completed in order to keep the key.

This list is very useful. I have a question though, is there a difference in the amount of wow gold when you do a normal raid compared to a heroic instance in Naxxramas?
